TIP: Assure that the link below that contains the list of recommended and not recommended detergent is scanned through if your desired detergent is not in our common list. Otherwise, repelling, stink, ammonia, and other insert issues will be a problem.

  • We do not recommend natural based detergents as they don’t contain enough enzymes to clean diapers properly. It causes Stinks and Repelling.
  • Here is a list of detergents that are recommended and not recommended to be used for Cloth Diapers.
  • Below is our Detergent Index, our recommended detergents for cloth diapers to help you further, we added the measurements as well.

  •  We generally recommend using the amount on the container for a full/ heavy load for your main wash and half that amount for your prewash.
  • This is a general guideline only. Soft water may need less detergent and hard water may need more detergent.
  • Water hardness over 60ppm will need additional softeners, except for Tide Original Powder (over 180ppm) or Gain Original Powder (over 140ppm).
  • Here is a sample Chart to help you determine your water hardness.

  • If your detergent isn't on this list, or you have any questions or issues with your wash routine or water hardness, please reach out to delight@lilhelper.ca
