It is never fun when wash routines go sideways and you have to bleach, but sometimes it is necessary.

Times when you may need to bleach:
-Yeast Infection
-Ammonia smell
-Pre-loved Mats and Mattress Protectors
- Mold spots

In order to bleach, you need to start with clean products. Ideally, we want to avoid bleaching the waterproof material, so start slow - try a refresh first. Add 1/2 cup of bleach to a wash with the items your concerned about. If you are still experiencing issues after that, you may need to do a full bleach.

Remember, with proper wash and care, bleaching your Lil Helper personal care items is rarely if ever necessary!

You will need to use disinfecting bleach with at least 5.25% sodium hypochlorite as the active ingredient.

*Splashless bleaches do not properly disinfect*

The soak should last 30-45 mins (Max) in cold water!
Here is the proper dilution of bleach to water:

Top Loader (Non-hE):

Small: 1/3 cup
Medium: 1/2 cup
Large/XL: 3/4 cup

Average Bathtub:

1/2 full: 1/2 cup
3/4 full: 3/4cup- 1cup
*Note* Measure from the top of the tub, regardless of where the overflow is.

Smaller Vessel:

1 Gallon: 1 Tablespoon For each gallon of cold water (up to 5 gal), add 1 Tbs. bleach.

Once the soak is done you must rinse with hot water, wring out products and do a hot wash with detergent. This is one of the reasons we don't recommend doing this often or if it can be avoided with our waterproof products - we don't want to expose them to the heat required for deactivating the bleach!
