All of our reusable pads (HyPs Menstrual Pads, Indiewear for Incontinence, and Interlabial Pads) are designed to wick moisture inside the pad and leave the side that touches your skin feeling dry to the touch - so the answer is, you should change them as often as makes you comfortable.
For example, our HyPs Max can hold 80-90 mL of liquid. Most super tampons hold just 10 mL. So many customers can wear them all day, but if you have a lot of clots, are using them for light bladder leaks, etc. you might want to change more often. It depends on what you feel comfortable with. However, because they are stay dry, many customers report feeling comfortable in the same pad for far longer than disposables.
Likewise our incontinence pads are designed to hold from 100 mL (Men's Regular Indiewear) to 250 mL (Unisex Indiewear) so how often you change them depends on your comfort level and how much you may leak.
Depending on if you are using interlabial pads as a first guard of defense for heavy discharge, a back up to a menstrual cup, or to evenly distribute โthe gushโ across a menstrual pad will determine how long you wear your pad for. Unlike tampons, there is no risk to your health when using interlabial pads properly, as you are not inserting them into your vagina but letting them rest between your labia.
The best part about all of our reusable pads is that you can change them like your underwear if that works for you! As long as you are comfortable and the pad isnโt overly saturated, there is no need to change it. Our waterproof fabric is designed to catch leaks but remain breathable, so folks can wear our products for longer than disposables and not worry about skin irritation and other annoyances that come with disposable pads.
